Because Healthy Smiles Start with Nutrition
As we finish up our office’s first full year, we wanted to do something to give back to our Austin community. We felt like supporting the amazing work of the Central Texas Food Bank would be a great way to do that.
We believe that all children deserve a healthy diet that supports good oral health. But the children of Central Texas experience food insecurity at a higher rate than the rest of the country. About 1 in 4 children in our area don’t have enough to eat.* We want to do our part to help end hunger in our community. Read on to see how you can join us.
While we usually think about food donations in the form of cans and jars, it’s actually more cost effective to donate funds directly to the Food Bank. They have many partnerships with businesses and government agencies to secure food in bulk. Special programs like their garden and Fresh Food for Families depend on monetary donations. For every $1 donated, 8 meals are provided. That’s incredibly efficient!
We are also happy to collect nonperishable foods in our office. At the end of our drive, we will drop them off at the food bank. If you have an appointment or are just in the neighborhood, stop in and give what you can. We will also collect coins in our office to donate. This is a great way to get our kids involved in giving back!
We’d like to thank everyone who participates in our Fund & Food Drive. Everyone who donates will receive a small gift from us to say “thanks!” If you aren’t in a position to make a donation, sharing the drive and information about the Central Texas Food Bank on social media is always appreciated.
